Who We Are

Lonna Rae Atkesonis Professor of Political Science and Regents’ Lecturer at the University of New Mexico. She directs the Center for the Study of Voting, Elections and Democracy. Her research examines the role contextual or environmental factors play in influencing the political attitudes and behaviors of political actors including candidates, the mass media, interest groups, political parties and citizens in democratic societies, especially the United States, and is widely published. Her research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, and the JEHT Foundation. In addition, she has done extensive work on New Mexico politics and its election processes. She holds a BA in political science from the University of California, Riverside and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  Visit her website here.

Kim Proctoris a graduate student at the University of New Mexico who is focusing on international relations and public policy.

Jim Noel

Brianna Montoya-Harrisis an undergraduate student at the University of New Mexico and is studying political science and communication and journalism with a concentration in multi-media. She is also the president of the Psi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Omega®, Christian Sorority, Inc.
